2008 Early Flowers End of May into JUNE, Birds Bees & whatsits

End of May sees Black eyed Suzies emerge, Mr Blackbird's nest becomes empty, Blackbirds young even when sitting with mouths open getting fed at the feed basket by Starlings!.
We get all sorts inc. Jay, Magpies, Jackdaws by Day, the young & often Rowdy 'Owlets'!by night & from dusk, types of Bats hunt Moths which approach the Echiums in hordes.
This is the time the Woodpigeons get noisy, the Doves have been noisy for a while here, smaller Birds such as Sparrows Dunnocks & Finches are quite common here, more furtive, the Wrens & have not seen a Goldcrest since the colder spells now gone.

Above, white Clamitis which oozes an odour of Vanilla now covers one end of the front wall.
Those patient Red Ice Plants which have remained out in all weathers, now have decided to open in sun & close when it disappears, dead heading these becomes an essential task, easy to grow and any broken off bits get pushed down into a nearby pot, we initially, circa 6 yrs ago started these & only had 2 polystyrene cups of these, they catch!!.
The 2 differing tones of Reds can be seen mixed together.

Last day of June 2008 our Cactus has 4 flowers which sadly last only for almost 48 hours, the 5th you can see will open July the 1st.
