Rare Old Boa Constrictor Vintage Horns PLUS DUDS TO BEWARE OF! shown at the bottom of Page

The rebuilt Boa Constrictor above is to adorn a Veteran or Vintage vehicle which can benefit from it hence price £875.

Original unrestored one below is now sold to Max Cuyper to place on a rather beautiful vehicle of his which originally had one of these fitted.

All types shown have versions here, however there are only 2 sizes of the Bosch and 2 sizes of Cowey here. STOCK CHANGES CONSTANTLY Klaxons of various types are here electrical plus mechanical all horns have been worked on internally antirust coated & adjusted & virtually all work, just like an Armchair Autojumble!

Boa Constrictor, we had to rebuild the heads on the both here, 'the smaller Motorcycle type as seen in Hobday's 1928 Catalogue for motorcycles not the larger head cars version.

Cowey Horns!, the 2 standard ones at the bottom line do not sound so you can get them working yourself, the others work, original colour for a Cowey was Green.

There is one only here of the Horn shown on the Triumph 1928, this same horn was also fitted to many others of the same period with the same forks Royal Enfield etc etc

These Windtones are here in 2 12Volts pairs at present plus there is one lone one, also one pair of original 6 VOLTS PAIR, please note that what you see on the page above does get sold or swapped for often before the website picture can be changed out.

Top right Nickel Trumpet 6V Bosch Trumpet Horns, top left is the Abraham Benjamin Rist Sygnol Lowestoft Waverley Factory made Trumpet type as fitted to pre 1930 AJS Vee Twin plus others inc light Austin Seven (7) Also the Grey ones are pre & post 1930 Clearhooters Trumpets horns, the lower one being the all Alloy Lightweight "Junior" used on many Competition cars. Lower right is a extremely rare pair of Smiths & Sons badge Bar Horns, as used on MG Riley & Morgan plus BSA

Left side has a Matching PAIR of 1921 into the 1930's Bosch horns, top right moving across we find a mid to late teens onward Bright Nickel Apollo, Below that is the FAR FAR RARER Bosch of a smaller size than the other Max sizes shown, this is NOS Never used old stock in 6Volts. Next across the top is the Oval Trumpet ROTAX Rarity of teens to twenties, the bracket is not with this but the drawing template is. far right is a all brass early Bosch in 12 Volts and at the bottom is one great (USA product) PREMIER 6 Volts item.

Top left is the scarce Clearhooter 'Q' Series made for themselves plus Powell & Hanmer and even Harley Davidson at one stage, this was the pre 1930 and over 1930 favourite. Next along the top is the 2 Novelty BULLHORN made in the 30's, both 12V & working one of them has the two tone Bull sound which helped them sell. Next along the top is a RIST Sygnol with short trumpet produced from late 1925 into 1930 & which was an option on many of the period. Vertical on the extreme left is a single turn CLAYRITE which could grace a light car or motorcycle. Horizontally below the Bull horns is a multitwist Lucas 38, again car or motorcycle, vertically on the right is the Lucas T24 which again has motorcycle or car attachments. Slightly to it's left is a small vertical nickel, French bicycle or early flat tanker item. Centre is one of the rare Sunburst Clearhooter 'Q' Series produced for Lissen Sound Halfords Clayrite Clarion Raydyot plus Stadium.
Either side of that is a back and front view of that Clearhooters 180/A hooter which went with the MILLER SYSTEM equipped Packages which went after 1936 onwards on VELOCETTE plus appeared at times on Ariel AJS Royal Enfield Vincent-HRD, the rear and front view is included for those who have difficulty identifying these from their competitor LUCAS's Altette Variations. Below the views of Clearhooters 180/A on the left is a Diaphragm Trumpet Horn as per the Klaxon Kifo. Down and to the right we see the German 1920's to 1930's HELLA horn & below that the French & Mid European favourite, SIMPLICORP again used on bikes & cars, along the bottom lays a Straight DESMO car horn. Immediately below is the Lucas HF 1141 & 1140 which was used on virtually all BSA, even Blue Star plus Empire Star from 1936 to 1939, plus some Royal Enfields & even 1936 RUDGE a this is the only one here restored inside as well as out and sounds exactly & superbly 'period' available at £95 plus some correct brackets may be obtainable here.

THE 3 KLAXON ones are the very roughest here of quite a large stock of Klaxon based items which have not been unwrapped yet, (2 are Klaxet 12 Volts and the Largest Brass trumpet Klaxon is 6 Volts, they are rough externally so cheaper than the other stock items. The Clearhooters item can take the Sunburst front if required & the Long Lucas WT Windtone is the exact type worn on Triumph Gloria plus many others of the same period. BELOW IS A RANGE OF KLAXONS WHICH CHANGES CONTINUALLY, IT IS NOT AS PER THE WRITING ON THE IMAGE.>

FOLLOWING INCLUDES BEZELS METAL SPUN, AS SHOWN BELOW, APPARENTLY 'THEY' HAVE NOT ALLOWED FOR THE TRUE SIZE OF DIAPHRAGM RIM, THUS THE METAL SPUN CURVED LIP CRIMPS THE EDGE OF THE BEZEL, STOPS IT RESONATING WHEN TIGHTENED DOWN FULLY SO THAT FULL SHORTING CURRENT RUNS UNINTERRUPTED THRU POINTS & COILS & BURNS THE ITEM OUT VIRTUALLY IMMEDIATELY. (LOTS HAVE COME HERE BURNED OUT AS A RESULT COSTING ENTHUSIASTS UNNECCESSARILY)

Brackets you can see Clearly Marked are different, some "GENIUS" on ebay sells those Clearhooters 180/2 Brackets for Clearhooters 180/A Horns listed as LUCAS 700168.
As u can see they are longer, also are of different profile with LESS METAL AROUND THE 2 LUGS so with the 2 smaller holes OPENED OUT TO TAKE LUCAS 'S LARGER pins they break easier, the guy knows they are wrong but had the wrong ones made and just blatantly lists them as something else & sells them to the unsuspecting. This "Genius" had the wrong shape made as 700168 & just wants his money back, similarly he had the Bezels made & did not think the metal spun edges stopped diaphragms resonating & when tightened down the current just passed through unopening non moving points. (THEY ALL APPEAR TO FIT, & all horns work when slack) Advertised in Old Bike Mart, magazines & marketed by reputable folk the restorers of Brit Bikes bought lots, made in Asia, low chrome and rough metal finish but cheap!, many of the restoring lads were tempted to save a little & lots of their burned out items arrived here for restoration, with bezels which had to be discarded & the man responsible for fooling restorers just pocketed the profit. ('easy for me to say nothing, & plenty of restoring resulting from the items made, however it looks a lot like cheating when a chap knows the result but still keeps selling items to the unsuspecting)
